What it takes to send business SMS in Bangladesh
- Registered sender name required. Since 8 September 2025, Twilio blocks messages with unregistered senders to Grameenphone, Robi/Axiata and TeleTalk. Registration takes about 3 weeks, and two-way SMS is not supported.
- Masking (brand name) with local providers needs the signatory's National ID or passport, a trade licence or TIN, a letter on company letterhead, a fee of about Tk 500, and 3–7 working days of approval.
- Non-masking sends from a number and allows replies, but it's the provider's number, not yours.
Sending from your own SIM in Bangladesh
Bangladeshi operators sell SMS packs, for example Grameenphone 500 SMS for 93 Tk and Robi 500 SMS for ৳75 (30 days).
- Characters: English fits in 160 characters. Bengali always uses Unicode, so one SMS holds 70 characters.
- Number format: Bangladeshi mobile numbers have 11 digits starting with 01, or +880 1 in international format.
- How it works: install the DroidSender app on an Android phone, upload your list from Excel or use the API, and the phone sends each text from your number. Replies arrive in one inbox on your computer.
