What it takes to send business SMS in the Philippines

  • Sender name registration is required. Since 7 April 2025, Twilio blocks unregistered senders; registration takes about 2 weeks.
  • No numeric senders at local providers. Semaphore only allows a brand name (up to 11 characters) and approves it within 5 business days.
  • Content rules. Twilio says shortened links and phone numbers in the message are not allowed.

Sending from your own SIM in the Philippines

Philippine prepaid promos include unlimited texts, for example Globe GoUNLI350 (₱350 for 30 days) and Smart All Net 299 (₱299 for 28 days).

  • Characters: English and Filipino fit in a normal 160-character SMS. Emojis switch it to 70 characters.
  • Number format: Philippine mobile numbers start with 09, or +63 9 in international format.
  • How it works: install the DroidSender app on an Android phone, upload your list from Excel or use the API, and the phone sends each text from your number. Replies arrive in one inbox on your computer.
