In short
- Make a spreadsheet with a Number column and an Address column.
- Upload it in Campaigns > New campaign and type @ to put the address in the message.
- Send now or schedule it for working hours.
- Answer each reply from Conversations and book the day.
What you need
- An Android phone (7.0 or newer) with a SIM card.
- Your customer or tenant list in Excel, Google Sheets or CSV.
Gas engineers, plumbers, electricians and boiler or appliance engineers often phone customers one by one to book visits. Send one text to the whole list instead, with each address in it, and book the visits as people reply.
For reminder templates for any kind of business, see appointment reminder text messages with examples and templates.
1. Prepare the list
One column with the numbers, one with the address. Any header works: DroidSender finds the number column and shows which one it used.
| Number | Address |
|---|---|
| +44 7911 123456 | 8 Carlton Road |
| 07911 654321 | Flat 2, 15 Mill Lane |
Local numbers are read in your SIM's country, so a UK SIM needs no +44.
2. Write the message
Go to Campaigns > New campaign and upload the file. Type @ in the message box and pick Address.
Hi, the annual gas safety check at @{Address} is due. Which day next week suits you? Just reply with a day. Smith Heating
Each tenant gets their own address in the text.
3. Send or schedule
Click Send now, or Schedule campaign to send at a set time. Messages go out from your phone at a human pace.
First time? Install the app and link the phone in Devices > Connect a phone.
The Log shows sent, delivered or failed for each message. Temporary failures are retried on their own.
4. Answer the replies
Replies land in Conversations, one thread per person. Answer from your computer and the reply goes out from your number. Mark a thread unread to come back to it before the visit is booked.
Tips
- Sign with your name or company, so people know who is texting.
- Send in working hours, when you can answer straight away.
- Keep one list per round of visits, so each campaign matches one week or one landlord.
More on spreadsheets: send bulk SMS from Excel or Google Sheets.
Questions people ask
- Do my customers need an app?
- No. They get a normal SMS from your number and reply like to any other text. Only the sending phone needs Android.
- What does it cost?
- The Free plan includes 100 SMS a month. Starter is $11.99 a month ($7.99 yearly) for 2,000 SMS. There is no per-SMS fee; your mobile plan applies.
- What if someone doesn't want these texts?
- If they reply STOP, they get one confirmation and never receive another message from your account.
