What it takes to send business SMS in France
- Business SMS must use a company name. Twilio says A2P messages in France must use an alphanumeric sender, and some operators replace other senders with short codes.
- Marketing hours. Marketing SMS can only be sent Monday to Saturday, 08:00 to 21:30, French time (Twilio's country guidelines).
- Proof for a custom sender. Local providers ask for a justification for a custom sender name, for example a company extract (Kbis) or a signed letter, and validation takes around 72 hours (OVHcloud).
- A name can't receive replies. Some providers only handle replies through a shared short code.
Local SMS providers in France
French SMS providers charge, for 1,000 texts: HexaSMS €49 (€0.049 each), OVHcloud €58 (€0.058) and LWS €90 (€0.09), excluding VAT. For 2,000 texts a month that is roughly €98–180 plus VAT.
