What it takes to send business SMS in Spain
- Sender name pre-registration with Twilio. Every alphanumeric sender must be pre-registered with proof that you are entitled to use it. It can take up to 4 weeks.
- A name can't receive replies. Spanish providers offer separate virtual numbers for two-way SMS.
Local SMS providers in Spain
Spanish SMS providers charge, for 1,000 texts: LabsMobile €45 (€0.045 each), SMSMasivos €73–80 and Lleida.net about €0.13–0.14 per SMS, plus VAT. For 2,000 texts a month that is roughly €90–270 plus VAT.

Sending from your own SIM in Spain
Spanish operators sell unlimited texts as a plan or an add-on, for example Movistar Tarifa Móvil Ilimitada (€35 a month) or Orange's Mensajes Ilimitados add-on (€1 a month).
- Characters: á, í, ó and ú switch an SMS to Unicode (70 characters instead of 160). ñ, é, ü, ¿ and ¡ fit in a normal SMS.
- Number format: Spanish mobile numbers have 9 digits starting with 6 or 7, or +34 in international format.
